1 Easy Trick to Eat a Healthier Diet: Hara Hachi Bu

One easy way to lose weight, lower your chances of stroke, cancer, heart diseases, and you can save money? Share by clicking this link.

According to a Harvard study it costs an extra $1.50 per day to eat healthy food. Which per month is another $45 that college students have to spend on groceries. Which in itself is not that much money for a healthy lifestyle.

Still, what if you could switch that around and save an extra $45 dollars each month. What if you could eat healthier, lose weight, and live longer? Sounds too good to be true.

I recommend instead of focusing on buying certain types of food; you focus on how you eat the food you already have. The Japanese have a word that means “eat until you are 80% full” or Hara Hachi Bu.

One little trick, by serving your regular plate and then removing a spoon full or two. Your elastic stomach will begin to shrink. As you get use to cooking a little less you will begin to save that $1.50 each day.

I know it sounds crazy how simple this idea is, but the Japanese of Okinawa have proven over generations that this works. Where they have one of the lowest rates of heart disease, cancer, stroke, and they are expected to live longer than most.

I also tried this for 8 months. I did not do anything else to change my workout program, and I lost 20 pounds.

FOODS LOW IN CALORIES

It also does help if you begin to eat better quality food. Here is a small list of low calories foods that if you put a bit more of on your plate, will help you lose weight even faster:

  • Apples

  • Crunchy vegetables

  • Whole grains

  • Almonds

  • Sunflower seeds

  • Eggs

  • Grapefruit

  • Fish

  • Canned tuna

  • Greek Yogurt

  • Tomatoes

If you place these on your plate or use them as a snack in between meals it will help you lose weight if that is your goal.

Of course that is not everyone’s goal. What if you want to put on more muscle?

Some people make the mistake of doubling their calories to put on muscles quickly. That is a mistake. It leads to a stake called “jack fat”. A large muscular man who has a large belly.

You want to apply the same principle in reverse. Instead of eating 80% of your stomach space you simply eat 110%.

FOODS HIGH IN PROTEIN

This gives your body time to build muscle instead of a gut. Protein also helps your body build faster so here is a short list of foods that are rich in protein.

  • Beef

  • Lamb

  • Crab

  • Lobster

  • Fish

  • Eggs

  • Milk

  • Cheese

  • Yoghurt

  • Chicken

As college students we sometimes make our lives more complicated than it needs to be. I think it is part of being raised believing that's worth wild goals are hard.

That is true, but remember that being consistent over 5 years is hard. So pick something easy that you can achieve everyday.

Eating 80% of your stomach space is a great way to lose weight and live a healthier life style today.
